I had the pleasure to photography Gary and Itza’s beautiful backyard wedding in Riverside last week. Originally, due to COVID, they had cancelled their plan of getting married in Taiwan (!!!!) and decided to just wait until next year. But about 4 weeks ago they reached out to me and asked if I would be available to photograph their new plan. Of course I said yes!
Itza DIY’d the entire wedding! The flowers were from Trader Joe’s and arranged by her and her sisters. She set and styled the tables, rented some tables and an arch, catered some food and got married. All within a few weeks. I love that, her determination is incredible and I would have never known she did it herself, everything looked amazing!
One of her sisters performed the ceremony and Gary’s family in Taiwan zoomed in to watch at 6am their time. It was truly a family oriented affair. The vows was the most special moment of the entire ceremony. Gary read his vows in Chinese, and Itza read hers in Spanish. After a 10 year relationship, 6 of those years in long distance, and now a pandemic, it was so sweet to witness them get married.
We then went to a local park to do their bridal portraits and we had the most perfect golden sunset! Followed by a intimate reception with their closest friends and family.
Even though the pandemic has greatly shifted how weddings are “normally” done, I love how couples are adapting and making weddings unique to them. These backyard weddings and mini weddings are so sweet and special.
