Sunset Marina Del Rey, California Family Photoshoot

Perfect sunset family photoshoot out at Marina Del Rey in California! Red and pink skies, sandy beaches, and a happy family. The Mayes family wanted to get some family portraits done and we made it happen!

This photoshoot was earlier in December last year. Though it was a little more colder, California just has that “eternal summer” look to it which can be a plus for your upcoming photoshoots! It’s always a little harder to work around snow and colder conditions but California’s always got you covered.

I know a lot of family photoshoots are perfect, but this one was perrrrrfect. The skies were so gorgeous this day and perfect for the Mayes. Golden hours in California are like no other. Believe me, you will want to capture these memories—and soon.

One of my favorite prompts during family photoshoots is having your children run to you or even playing tag. There might come a time where you might not get these memories with your children again, so doing a photoshoot is the best way to preserve those times! This is not only fun for you all, but also for the photographer to capture. A little bit of movement in the pictures never hurt!

On another note, I absolutely love everyone’s attire in this session. Dark blue polo with white slacks for dad, a pink and blue floral dress for mom, and a pink tulle dress for their daughter! Such a cute color scheme, especially for December, and worked so well with the cotton candy sunset.
